Michael Hale successfully defended his seat as the State Representative for District 40. Hale beat Democratic Nominee Daniel Hawthorne with 83.7 percent of the votes across the five counties in the district. Hale received 81.4 percent of the votes in Jackson County for a total of 4,116.
