Violet Lucille Montgomery is survived by daughter Teresa Nichols; son Billy Sidler; stepdaughter Kathy Goolsby; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 2 great-Great-Grandchildren.

Violet was born Tuesday, August 9, 1938, in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Dave Johnson and the late Lucille Gambler.

She was a devoted mother to her children and a source of joy and love for her grandchildren. She was loved by everyone who knew her.

passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025 Dr. Norman Reiss, age 98 of Crossville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

At the time of death, he was a resident at Good Samaritan Fairfield Glade in Crossville, TN. He was an obstetrician and gynecologist, a World War II veteran, and much more. He will be sorely missed by the family and friends who are now in mourning.

Norman Reisberg (family name changed to Reiss in 1945 during the naturalization process) was born in Montreal, Canada on March 12, 1927. His parents were Sol (Solomon) and Clara (maiden name Ida Frankel) Reiss, who emigrated from Russia and settled for a time in Canada before relocating to Hillside, New Jersey. They remained in the same home their two children grew up in, until Sol passed away and Clara moved to an apartment in South Orange, N.J. until her death.

As a teen he played in bands, then later with classical musicians. He studied with two famous bass fiddle teachers in New York City, Fred Zimmerman and Orin O’Brien. Orin recently was featured in a documentary, “The Only Girl in the Orchestra.” It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short. His love of music inspired his three children to play classical music as well. His oldest son, Eric, played guitar. His middle child, Kevin, played piano. His daughter, Susan (Suzy), who predeceased him, played violin and worked at the music library of Bennington College.

He served from May 1945 to October 1946, travelling to Germany and Italy. During his time in service he was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Once he told of how, during the war, he had treated wounded soldiers from both sides, Germany and the U.S.! He saw people who needed help and gave it.

Earl Thompson is survived by wife Angela Zipper Thompson of Baxter; stepsons Ray Moon and Cody Moon both of Kansas; sister Modena Thompson of Baxter; brother Bobby (Rene) Thompson of Chattanooga.

He was born May 13, 1958 in Cookeville

Earl was a 1976 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter. His work ethic led him to Putnam Plastics (now Encompass Plastics) where he served as a materials handler. He enjoyed his work and his co-workers.

Earl enjoyed the outdoors, riding the "hollows" and looking at the scenery and wildlife. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends.
