Man Charged With Sale and Delivery Of Fentanyl

The 15th Judicial Drug Task Force has charged a Smith County man with sale and delivery of heroin and fentanyl. 34-year-old James Thomas Franklin was arrested Wednesday in Putnam County. A judge has set Franklin’s bond at $75,000 and his initial appearance in Putnam County Criminal Court will be November 6th.

Historic Low Unemployment Announced

Gov. Bill Haslam announced Thursday the state has historic low unemployment. Haslam’s administration has announced record-low unemployment rates since June. However September’s unemployment rate is 3 percent. The lowest since the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics began tracking the information in January 1976.

Putnam Commission Seat Will Be Filled By Appointment

For the third time this year the Putnam County Commission will be tasked with filling a vacant commission seat. 6th District Commissioner Reggie Shanks passed away Tuesday.
