Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital installing a next-generation CT scanner to provide faster cardiac imaging and diagnostic services in McMinnville.
Officials said the system captures images of the heart in as little as half a second to reduce motion blur from irregular heartbeats. The technology also assists with diagnostic care in neurology, oncology, orthopedics, and pulmonology.
“Our priority is always delivering compassionate, quality care close to home,” Cardiologist Dr. Scott Reising said. “Bringing this next-generation imaging technology to River Park helps our neighbors access advanced diagnostic care right here in McMinnville, without needing to travel away from their families.”
Officials said the scanner uses integrated machine learning to automatically adjust settings for each patient while reducing radiation exposure.
Officials said the hospital recently added telemedicine stroke services, robot-assisted surgical technology, and a renovated 12-bed intensive care unit.
In a press release, officials said the 125-bed facility is the largest Ascension Saint Thomas hospital in the Upper Cumberland and recently recruited its first full-time dedicated cardiologist.
Officials said patients now have local access to cardiology diagnostic testing including echocardiograms, stress testing, and nuclear imaging.
