TBI joining the Crossville Police Department to investigate the discovery of a body found near a local restaurant.
Administrative Captain and Public Information Officer Brian Eckelson said the investigation remains active as authorities work the scene near the Sonic Drive-In.
“At this point, we don’t have a whole lot of information available for release,” Eckelson said. “It’s still an active investigation and they’re working it as we speak.”
Eckelson said the department has received preliminary information suggesting the deceased individual is a female. Eckelson said investigators have not yet provided identifying factors such as a name, race, or age for official release.
Eckelson said the 13th Judicial District Attorney General’s office is also involved in the investigation.
“There’s no concern that we’re aware of at this point,” Eckelson said. “As far as the information as to what happened or how it happened, I have no information on that, but there’s doesn’t look to be any kind of reason for fear for the public, no.”
Eckelson said the department is aware of rumors circulating online regarding the case. Eckelson said the public should exercise caution and wait for verified facts from law enforcement.
“Don’t make up stuff and spread vicious rumors,” Eckelson said, “We’ll be able to release stuff as soon as we get the information that’s factual.”
Eckelson said the department will provide more details to the public as they become available from the investigators on the scene.
