Tennessee Tech preparing to welcome fans to a transformed Tucker Stadium this Saturday for the first home game following extensive renovations to the facility.
Director of Media Relations Hunter Julius said the university has invested millions of dollars into the project to create a high-level venue for the local community. Julius said the upgrades include new chair-back seating, updated concessions, and a modern concourse.
“Well, I mean, first off, they’re going to see the West side of the stadium and it’s immediately going to become apparent that, you know, the university has a strong commitment to athletics,” Julius said. “You don’t put in millions of dollars to update your stadium if that’s not a priority.”
Julius said the game day experience will begin with the traditional Eagle Walk two hours and 30 minutes before kickoff. Julius said stadium gates are scheduled to open 90 minutes prior to the start of the game.
“It’s going to be a jam packed environment, obviously with the renovations to the stadium, it’s just going to be a fantastic environment for anyone in the local community to be a part of,” Julius said. “The biggest thing would be arrive early and wear your purple and gold.”
Julius said the stadium now features improved accessibility with wheelchair ramps located on both the East and West sides. Julius said the West side entrance provides elevator access to the lower lobby, general concourse, and premium seating areas.
“It’s going to be a place that you’re going to want to come every game because it’s just going to be such a high level venue,” Julius said. “I mean, the biggest mistake honestly, a fan would make, would be not coming to this game.”
Julius said students should enter the stadium through Gate 6, where promotional t-shirts will be distributed. Julius said the university has also implemented a no-reentry policy, though fans may receive wristbands to access food trucks located on the East side of the stadium.
“There is actually a well put together ‘Know Before You Go’ page that is on our website,” Julius said. “Because that will encompass all questions in regards to general parking.”
