Identity Group will permanently close its Cookeville facility on Gould Drive in October, a move that will result in the layoff of 63 employees.
Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Chief of Staff Stamatia Xixis said the company filed an official Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification on August 20. Xixis said the permanent closure of the facility located at 1480 Gould Drive is scheduled to become effective on October 20.
Xixis said the 63 affected workers at the facility are not represented by a collective bargaining agreement. Xixis said the employees do not have bumping rights in connection with the closure.
“The Upper Cumberland Local Workforce Development Board will be responsible for the oversight of and the continued follow-up of Rapid Response and Dislocated Worker services associated with this event,” the notice said.
Xixis said the company notified the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Dislocated Worker Unit regarding the decision.
Xixis said the Upper Cumberland Local Workforce Development Board (UCLWDB) will provide oversight for the services associated with the closure. Xixis said the state agency was notified of the event more than two years in advance of the final closure date.
