The Sparta Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved an ordinance on second and final reading Thursday to prohibit mobile food vendors from parking overnight.
Mayor Jerry Lowery said the new regulations specifically target the parking habits of food trucks and the structure of their associated fees. The board passed the measure unanimously following a roll call vote. One council member made the motion to approve the changes, which was immediately seconded by another board member before the vote was called.
In a separate action, the board also finalized a new administrative fee for residents and developers seeking official documentation from the city. Lowery said the amendment establishes a $50 fee for zoning compliance letters issued by the Codes department.
“We had discussion last week or two weeks ago,” Lowery said.
