Meetings tonight across the Upper Cumberland will see Cookeville Board of Zoning Appeals consider the special exception to convert the existing extended-stay property on Salem Road into a 112-unit long-term residential housing development. The application includes affordability requirements, rent limits, and annual reporting requirements.
Gainesboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen will consider the first reading of an ordinance defining data processing facilities and allowing them only in the industrial district. The board will also discuss whether to purchase or lease a tractor for the street department or repair the existing equipment.
Officials said Gainesboro has received an additional $635,000 in grant funding for its water plant and intake project. The board will consider purchasing and installing five new master meters with the Jackson County Utility District willing to pay half the cost.
The board said another potential economic development item involves Beau Smith, who has expressed interest in purchasing a city-owned building for a manufacturing startup. The board will also consider seeking bids for repairs to exterior walls at the wastewater plant and painting the exterior of City Hall.
Baxter Board of Mayor and Aldermen said it will consider the first reading of an ordinance to rezone properties on Phillips Street from R-1 low-density residential to R-2 high-density residential. Officials will also consider a resolution authorizing Mayor Danny Holmes to execute a lease agreement involving city park property.
The White County School Board hearing a presentation from CMTA concerning an energy audit and consider plats for volunteer fire departments at BonDeCroft, Cassville, and Central View. The board will also consider a new foundation policy on first reading.
The board said the meeting will mark a transition as departing members Tracy Fowler, Sherrie Stone, and Jayson McDonald are recognized alongside new members Jerry Kelsey, Chandel Thorpe, and Bryan Liner.
