Algood Fire Extinguishes Early Morning Apartment Blaze

The Algood Fire Department responded to a first-floor fire at the Garden Grove apartment complex early Thursday morning.

Algood Fire Chief David Judd said the department received the call at 2:17am regarding a fire in Building A. Judd said the blaze resulted in heavy fire damage to a first-floor living room and smoke damage throughout the residence.

“We deployed a inch and three quarter hand line and we made an aggressive interior attack through the front door and managed to get a good knockdown on the fire,” Judd said. “The fire had been held in place into that that one apartment luckily by a neighbor that had sprang into action.”

Judd said one female resident was initially treated and released at the scene before later deciding to be transported to the emergency room.

Judd said the fire was extinguished in less than 10 minutes once crews arrived on the scene.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the the lady that suffered this loss,” Judd said. “And I’m going to be reaching out to her and keeping in touch with the family. And you know, if they need anything, hopefully we can I know our community’s great and if they need anything we can get that to her.”
