TBI is investigating a dead body that was found Friday morning inside a burning refrigerator in Overton County.
According to investigators, a burning fridge was discovered in a ravine off Highway 164 near Sunk Cane Road. The individual who discovered the burning fridge stopped, and while evaluating, the fridge door came open, and they realized a human body had been jammed inside. Law enforcement was immediately called to the scene.
The body was so badly burned that law enforcement could not determine the gender or the exact cause of death. TBI is treating the case as a potential homicide and has sent the body off to a medical examiner.
Among other things, TBI will be checking for reports of any missing persons in the area. Officials ask that if anyone has information about this case, please contact TBI or the Overton County Sheriff.
