Overton County’s Courthouse Project moving forward after its design and engineering phase has been completed.
Mayor Curtis Hayes said work will be done on the grounds of the courthouse to upgrade and beautify the area.
“We are going to hopefully be in construction within the next couple of months and that’s what we’re calling the TAP grant,” Hayes said.
Hayes said the work was made possible through grant funds. He said small communities tend to rely heavily on grant funds and it is a slow process, but it feels good to move forward.
Hayes said the courthouse project also coincides with the East Main Street sidewalk project. He said that work is covered by a CDBG grant to make the sidewalks more ADA-accessible and fix drainage issues.
”We are all about the beautification and the revitalization of our downtown,” Hayes said.
