Sparta Campground Seeing Influx After Bonnaroo Cancellation

The cancellation of Bonnaroo in Manchester has started a ripple effect for one campground in the Upper Cumberland.

Big Puckett’s Campground and RV Park in Sparta has already seen 40 extra bookings Wednesday. Campground Manager Rachel Allison said it seems to be just the beginning as more festival goers find a place to stay.

“There’s a travel agency that is trying to place 2,500,” Allison said. “I don’t know if we can hold that many, but we will try cause I don’t think there’s any other campgrounds in this area that have open fields that we do.”

Allison said the large number of campers come from travel agents trying to rebook trips since Bonnaroo closed its campground. Allison said Big Puckett’s has about five acres of land ready to be used.

“The phone has been ringing off the hook,” Allison said. “Mr. Puckett himself had posted on Facebook under the campground site that we are willing to place people. We understand. We have five acres of just grass where people can bring their tents.”

Allison said the camp site has a restaurant, general store and bathhouses to accommodate the displaced campers.
