Pickett Schools Buys Tracking System For Expenditures And Student Growth

Pickett County Schools has purchased a new tracking system to improve the systems bookkeeping.

Director of Schools Diane Elder said the program was needed to document expenditures from ESSER funding.

“We are supposed to be tracking every penny that we spend,” Elder said. “We need something to keep up with student data, and from talking to director’s and other schools and supervisors, we feel like this is the program that we need.”

Elder said the program also has educational purposes by recording student test scores and grades to gauge growth.

“When they take those benchmark assessments, it will show us those gains,” Elder said. “We will be able to look at a particular students and see what standards they are weak in, and what we need to do to increase their achievement.”

The Board of Education approved the three year contract for $40,000 Monday. Elder said the system will be implemented as soon as possible.
