Handguns, Variety of Drugs Found During Traffic Stop

A convicted felon from Memphis faces charges after Cookeville Police found him possessing guns and a variety of drugs Thursday.

Officers came in contact with Patrick Smith after conducting a traffic stop for speeding on Interstate 40.

According to an arrest warrant, officers searched the vehicle and found ecstasy, cocaine, Xanax, THC infused gummies, and two handguns.

A records check revealed that Smith had a felony drug conviction out of Shelby County. In addition, officers learned that someone had reported one of the firearms stolen.

Smith faces four counts of possession of a controlled substance and a single count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He left the Putnam County Jail after posting $38,000 bond.
