Appeals Court Affirms Post Conviction Relief In Child Murder Case

The Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals has affirmed a ruling denying post conviction relief for a White County man serving life in prison for child abuse and felony murder.

Joshua Iceman had argued that he received ineffective counsel when convicted of killing his eight-week-old daughter in 2011.

Iceman contended that his attorney should have done a better job of vetting an expert witness. In addition, Iceman said the trial lawyer should have attempted to suppress his statements to police.

Judge J. Ross Dyer ruled that Iceman failed to prove both arguments.
