UC Traffic Fatalities Down From 2018 Despite Deadly July

Upper Cumberland traffic fatalities are down slightly in 2019 despite a deadly July month.

According to the State of Tennessee’s year-to-date fatality report, 37 people have died this year in vehicle accidents.

That number is down slightly from 41 deaths through the first seven months of 2018.

Eight people died on Upper Cumberland roadways last month, including four people in Cumberland County between July 27-28. Cumberland County leads the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Cookeville District in traffic fatalities with 11 this year.

Traffic fatalities have risen across the state as 622 people have died in 2019 compared to 582 through Aug. 1, 2018.
