A trial initially scheduled for next week involving former Smithville Mayor Jimmy Poss has been delayed.
According to DeKalb County Circuit Court Clerk Susan Martin, a hearing has been scheduled Aug. 5 at the DeKalb County Courthouse to reschedule the trial.
The trial had initially been scheduled for July 23-24 following a hearing last December.
Poss faces theft and official misconduct charges after he hired his son to work at the Smithville golf course without approval from the Board of Aldermen. Anthony Poss also faces one count of theft in the case.
Information on why the initial trial was postponed has not been made available.
