Crossville Finalizes Blood Draw Contract with CMC

Crossville City Council has finalized a contract with Cumberland Medical Clinic allowing the hospital to conduct blood draws for city Police.

The police department will pay between $14 and $17 to have CMC perform blood draws on suspects, assuming proper warrants are presented to medical staff. The contract also states that officers must also have probable cause to charge a suspect with DUI before requesting a blood draw.

The agreement was first presented to the Council in November and finalized during this week’s meeting.

Councilman Rob Harrison abstained from approving the contract as he is a member of the hospital’s board of directors. The rest of council unanimously approved the contract 4-0.
