Baxter Christmas Parade Moved to Monday Evening

The City of Baxter has postponed its Christmas parade due to the risk of bad weather Friday evening.

Mayor John Martin says moving the parade date to Monday was the best option for both the city and the community.

“We looked at the forecast and we’re talking about a 90 percent chance of rain Friday,” Martin says. “There’s a lot of people that’s going to be in the parade. Of course, it’s hard to predict the weather, but we just felt like it would be better for everyone and the people that’s coming to our parade, where we could enjoy it instead of sitting in the rain.”

Despite the delay, Martin remains optimistic and hopes everyone is still able to come out and watch the parade.

“We have a lot of people from our schools that participate in it and a lot of the antique cars,” Martin says. “It’s really just a good parade. It brings people to our city to see what we’re all about and it’s good for our community.”

The parade will kick-off at Cornerstone Elementary School beginning at 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service predicts Monday evening will feature a low temperature of 54 degrees with a 30 percent chance of rain.
