A severe thunderstorm knocked the steeple off of the First Baptist Church in Carthage earlier today.
Workers reported that they did not hear the steeple fall during the storm. The church office didn’t realize the steeple fell until someone called the church.
Insurance should cover the damage, according to a church worker.
