The White County Schools want to officially break ground this week on the new Findlay Elementary.
“It’s been a process,” Director Of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said. “I think we were all taken aback a little bit by building costs these days, especially commercial building costs. But once the sticker shock wore off, we were able to sit down and work through some details.”
“Just really excited for our community. I think we’re going to build a really beautiful and really functional building.”
The new 70,000 square foot elementary school will cost about $10 million. It replaces a building built in 1966. The school had not been remodeled since the 1990s.
The Christman Company of Knoxville will head up the project.
