An accident along Willow Avenue north of the Tech Campus early Thursday morning sent a 20-year-old woman to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
20-year-old Meagan McKnight of Cleveland, TN, struck the right rear axle of a 2005 Mack Tractor Trailer Cab just after 6:30am. EMS transported McKnight to Cookeville Regional following the accident, she was later life-flighted to Vanderbilt.
THP reports McKnight was travelling south on State Road 135/Willow Avenue. The trailer cab, driven by Jackie Hodge of Sparta, was preparing to turn left into Elk Mountain Construction. McKnight’s windows were frost-covered and she thought the truck was in her lane. She swerved right and hit the right real axle.
Tennessee Highway Patrol cited McKnight for failing to exercise due care and failing to provide proof of financial responsibility.
