The Tennessee Court of Appeals upheld the conviction and sentence of a Putnam County man found guilty on charges of raping his daughter.
Perry Lewis Sisco had asked the court to overturn the conviction. Sisco’s lawyers argued insufficient evidence to sustain the convictions and that the trial court erred in denying the motion to suppress Sisco’s statement. Lawyers further argued that the trial court abused its sentencing discretion and that a motion to recuse the district attorney should have been allowed.
In an opinion delivered by Judge Robert L. Holloway, the court of appeals affirmed the trial court’s decisions on all four counts.
A jury found Sisco guilty on one count of a rape of a trial and four counts of rape in November, 2016. Sisco testified the he had sex with his daughter 20-30 times during a roughly seven-year time frame. The first incident occurred when the girl was eight. The four counts of rape resulted from the intercourse that occurred after the victim turned 13.
