Putnam County residents should prepare for some wind.
Remnants of Hurrican Irma will sweep through the area Monday evening.
Putnam County EMA Director Tyler Smith said the current predictions show the area receiving less rain than originally thought, but we’ll still be under a wind advisory starting at 4 p.m.
“Main concern is the winds, bring in any loose items like trash cans, secure those, things that could be blown around is the main thing, take precautions on that,” Smith said.
Some flooding could happen in areas that are prone to it, Smith said. That includes portions of Willow and Jefferson avenues in Cookeville. If the wind begins to blow down trees, power outages are possible, Smith said.
“The electric department will post numbers up, call their number to report those outages, unless it’s an emergency don’t call 911,” Smith said.
Hurricane Irma made landfall in Florida Keys Sunday morning as a Category 4 storm. It’s proceeded up the west side of Florida, causing flooding along the way.
