Cookeville’s Willow Avenue will see more construction beginning this weekend.
TDOT spokesman Jennifer Flynn said Sunday night, Rogers Group will begin lowering manholes, repairing sidewalks and drainage catchbasins. It’s all part of a paving project.
“That particular phase of work with all the catch basins and the sidewalks and the concrete work should take about a month for the contractor to complete, after he completes this phase, he’ll start milling and paving,” Flynn said.
The project begins just south of Jackson Street and will cover 2 miles of Willow Avenue, all the way up to Gainesboro Grade.
“Things should be a lot better once this project is done and it’ll be easier for people to get around and we’re very happy to do this work,” Flynn said.
All work will be completed after dark. At least one lane will remain open each way, Flynn said. The entire project is set to be completed by Halloween.
