Cumberland County property owners will be paying higher taxes this year.
The County Commission approved the upcoming fiscal year budget last night with $1.56 property tax rate, which is six cents more than last year.
Officials said the increase will fund $12.3 million in upgrades to Crab Orchard Elementary School and the Cumberland County High School stadium.
The budget also included funding for four new sheriff’s patrol cars, two new ambulances and the new animal shelter.
