Tennessee Tech’s pay raises were part of the state budgeting process this year, officials said.
At its meeting Thursday, the TTU Board of Trustees approved the plan, which calls for a one-percent salary increase for employees who receive benefits and were hired before Jan. 1, 2017. The measure also allows for a two-percent increase based on merit.
The salary increases were mandated by the state but only partially funded. The state provided 60 percent of the needed amount. The state didn’t require a three-percent increase, only that the money be used for salary increases. Each institution decided how the increases would be distributed.
Also, faculty members have a separate plan, which will determine how they receive their increases.
Salary increases will be effective August 1.
