A former Overton County inmate filed a $1.5 million suit against the county and its officials.
John Lucas White was incarcerated at the jail for 13 days last spring. According to the suit, White told jail officials he had been addicted to drugs, and was seeing a Nashville doctor. The suit said jail officials didn’t give White the drugs as he was prescribed, and he went through withdrawal.
According to the suit, White’s condition deteriorated until EMS were contacted and he was flown to Skyline Medical Center.
The suit was filed on April 20.
