Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman Tuesday evening after she allegedly shouted obscenities at children during a baseball practice at the Jere Whitson Ball Fields.
Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said the incident occurred at the Mississippi Avenue facility. Deputy Justin Cobble responded to the scene and located the suspect in a wooded area near the fields.
“Children and families should be able to enjoy our community’s ball fields without being subjected to disruptive behavior,” Farris said. “Our Deputies will continue to respond to these concerns and take appropriate enforcement action to keep these spaces safe.”
Cobble identified the woman as Brandi Mendez and observed multiple beer containers around her. Mendez exhibited several signs of impairment and initially refused repeated instructions to exit the woods.
Mendez was charged with public intoxication and issued a trespass notice for all properties included in the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Trespass Enforcement Program. Her bond was set at $431.50.
