Upper Cumberland county commissions considering millions of dollars in spending, landfill expansion, and nuclear waste resolutions during meetings Monday night.
Cumberland County Commissioners will consider a $9.75 million state funded infrastructure project aimed at addressing utility deficiencies and supporting development in the Westel community. The commission will also consider a $5 million appropriation for repairs and improvements at the Cumberland County Community Complex.
The Cumberland County agenda includes the demolition and reconstruction of the Election Commission, Highway Department, and Maintenance Building following fire damage.
Putnam County Commissioners will consider expanding the existing Class III landfill under requirements of the Jackson Law. The commission will also elect its chairman, chairman pro tempore, and parliamentarian for the coming year.
Fentress County Commissioners will consider a resolution opposing a potential long-term repository or short-term storage or disposal of nuclear material as part of the proposed Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus in Tennessee. The commission will also discuss an electronic voting system and consider nearly $798,000 in budget amendments for the school system.
Pickett County Commissioners will consider a resolution declaring opposition to locating nuclear waste within the county. The commission will also discuss a resolution to opt out of statewide building code standards and open bids for a loader for the county transfer station.
White County Commissioners will consider a proposed bylaw revision and an attendance based compensation resolution. The commission will also make appointments to several county committees and boards.
Van Buren County Commissioners will consider changing the deadline for submitting items for full commission agendas from ten days before a meeting to five. The commission will also consider just over $3,200 for contracted services for the Sheriff’s Department and nearly $1,800 for courthouse and jail maintenance.
Warren County Commissioners will consider a restaurant lease, an airport reappointment, and a district attorney resolution.
The Cumberland Plateau Water Authority will consider a property construction review, an open records request policy, and a resolution concerning an open board position.
