One person is dead and another injured after a boat carrying two men struck a piece of land on Dale Hollow Lake Monday.
TWRA officials said game wardens responded to the scene around 10pm after nearby campers reported hearing a crash and calls for help. Officials said the incident involved a bass boat that reportedly struck the island and ejected both occupants.
71-year-old John Rush was pronounced dead following the collision. Officials said 33-year-old Alden Rush was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. Clay County EMS transported both men to Holly Creek Marina.
TWRA said the incident marks the 17th boating-related fatality recorded so far in 2026. The agency is currently investigating the crash.
