Cassville School Requires $30,000 Septic Pump Upgrade

White County Schools facing an estimated $25,000 to $30,000 repair at Cassville Elementary after a failure in the school’s septic system damaged two pumps.

White County Schools Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor Randy Alley told the School Board that the district initially believed the problem may have been caused by lightning.

“At Cassville, our septic tank has gone down,” Alley said. “The pumps that are down in the ground and in the middle of the tank, one of them shorted out, and it blowed the other pump that’s in the building.”

Alley said the failure resulted in several electrical malfunctions creating a domino effect of issues.

“We had a lot of electrical problems, and we will have to go with replacing some pumps,” Alley said. “And that one will be, you know, twenty-five to thirty thousand dollars to fix it.”

Alley did not provide the board with a timetable for completing the Cassville repairs or identify a funding source for the work during his maintenance report.
