Armed McMinnville Standoff Ends In Fatal Gunfire Thursday

A multi-agency response to a domestic disturbance in McMinnville ended in a fatal officer-involved shooting Thursday evening after an armed individual barricaded himself inside a residence.

TBI officials said the agency began an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting at the request of 31st Judicial District Attorney General Matthew Colvard. TBI officials said the incident occurred in the 200 block of Dogwood Pointe Dr. after officers with the McMinnville Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance just after 7:00pm.

Responding officers encountered an individual who reportedly armed himself and barricaded himself inside the home. TBI officials said officers attempted to de-escalate the situation before two officers and the individual fired their weapons.

Scott Carroll Jr. struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene. No law enforcement officers sustained injuries during the incident.

TBI officials said special agents are working to independently determine the series of events by collecting evidence and conducting interviews.
