Warren County’s Gracie Brock launched the “God Is Groovy” podcast to provide a platform for individuals to share vulnerable testimonies and inspire others through their faith.
Brock said the podcast serves as a follow-up to her published children’s book, “Jesus Loves Adoption,” which she wrote and illustrated after being crowned Warren County’s Fairest of the Fair in 2023. Brock said the podcast title originated from her church small group leader, Tracy McCord.
“I had been thinking about it for several months, and the vision just kept coming to my mind,” Brock said. “And I would have dreams about it, and I prayed about it, and I just felt like it was something that the Lord wanted me to do. And so I wanted to be obedient to that.”
Brock said the podcast represents the idea that God remains present through the various “grooves” and transitions of life.
Brock said her upbringing at First Baptist Church and the influence of her parents provided the foundation for her to share her faith publicly.
“I think people my age hesitate because there are so many different opinions in the world nowadays, but just knowing that if you are rejected for your faith, you know, they’re not rejecting you, they’re just rejecting something that they are struggling with internally,” Brock said. “And so just knowing that none of this is about us, I think really helps young people just to have that mindset and knowing that we’re doing it for the Lord and that it’s not about us.”
Brock said she selects guests by identifying people in her life who have either “cool” or “hard” stories that offer inspiration to listeners. Brock said the podcast is intended for all age groups, including teenagers, families, and older individuals.
“I think I’ve truly learned that if I just am obedient to God, that He will provide what I need,” Brock said. “Even though I might be fearful about it or second-guessing myself, if I just put myself out there and am obedient to what the Lord is calling me to do, He’ll give me the things that I need to make it successful.”
Brock said she has already received positive feedback from the community, including a recent encounter with a teenager in a local drive-thru who expressed excitement for the show. Brock said the podcast aims to offer a clear, truthful message in a world she believes is filled with “untruth.”
“I hope that what makes God is Groovy different is that it shares a true message,” Brock said. “There’s no gray area. It just is sharing the truth of the Lord, and I think the world is full of so much untruth. And so knowing that my podcast is sharing truth, I hope that that’s encouraging to people that are looking for something that the world can’t give.”
Brock said she encourages other young people who feel a calling to pursue their dreams to pray and seek encouragement from others.
“I hope that they hear something that they can relate to, maybe a message of hope or a message of redemption, knowing that the Lord loves them, He hears them, sees them, and that they can, they’re never too far from the Lord and that they can always redeem that relationship with Him,” Brock said.
Brock said the “God Is Groovy” podcast is currently available on YouTube with new episodes released approximately once a month.
