With Jefferson Avenue’s manholes set to be evened back up with the pavement any day, Cookeville City Council will decide to award another bid for a manhole replacement project.
Water Quality Control Director Barry Turner said the department has not bid out a specific manhole rehabilitation project in approximately four years.
“We had three contractors pick up the stuff and one contractor got his bid in one minute late,” Turner said. “But that bid is $172,400.”
Turner said the bid falls within the department’s current budget for rehabilitation work. Turner said the selected contractor has performed work for the city in the past.
Council will decide on the bid Thursday night.
T-DOT is wrapping up the repaving of South Jefferson Avenue from Interstate 40 to the County Courthouse. The project came after Cookeville rehabbed water and sewer lines under Jefferson.
