Every Upper Cumberland county saw a decrease in unemployment rates during the month of July.
Pickett County recorded the region’s largest decrease, falling from 5.6 percent in June to 5.0 percent in July. Pickett still recorded the fourth highest unemployment rate in the state.
Overton County had the region’s lowest July unemployment rate at 3.5 percent.
White, Van Buren and Jackson counties each dropped four-tenths of a percentage point. White fell from 4.6 to 4.2 percent, Van Buren from 4.0 to 3.6 percent and Jackson from 4.4 to 4.0 percent.
Putnam County’s unemployment rate declined from 4.0 to 3.7 percent. Fentress fell from 3.9 to 3.6 percent, Overton from 3.8 to 3.5 percent and Cumberland from 4.5 to 4.2 percent. Clay County decreased from 4.3 to 4.2 percent, Warren from 4.2 to 4.1 percent and DeKalb from 4.4 to 4.3 percent.
All but two of Tennessee’s 95 counties reported a drop in their unemployment rates in July, according to newly released data Thursday.
