Clay County recorded the highest voter participation in the Upper Cumberland during the August 6 election with more than half of its registered voters casting ballots.
Unofficial election results said the average voter turnout across 10 of the 11 counties in the Upper Cumberland reached 36.03 percent. Clay County led the region with a turnout of 52.42 percent.
Unofficial results said Van Buren County followed the regional leader with 39.67 percent participation while Warren County posted 36.92 percent. Pickett County reported 36.04% while White County reported a turnout of 35.99 percent and Fentress County recorded 35.60 percent.
DeKalb County finished with 34.27 percent and Overton County saw 33.66 percent participation. Putnam County recorded 33.04 percent while Jackson County finished at 31.67 percent, unofficially.
Cumberland County recorded the lowest turnout among reporting counties at 27.01 percent.
Election officials said the canvassing process will continue before the August 6 election results are certified in the coming days.
