A six-generation Upper Cumberland firm celebrated the ribbon-cutting of its new facility in the Baxter community Wednesday.
Winell Lee began operations in Putnam County during the 1930s and today, creates custom-crafted mouldings, flooring, and staircases. Jeanie Lee said the event marks a significant milestone for the business.
“It’s just, it’s just amazing to me what my family does,” Lee said. “And I’m so excited to be able to celebrate with them, to celebrate with our community, with our county and beyond. It’s just, it’s just a pleasure.”
Lee said it has required ingenuity and resilience to operate across six generations.
Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter said the business is introducing new products as it continues to serve the local area.
“We’re so thankful for Winell, Jeanie and all the folks here and what they have meant to our community and what they’re really going to mean to our community going forward,” Porter said.
Baxter Mayor Danny Holmes led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance during the ceremony. Lee said the event also recognized the importance of national freedom.
“There is a flag out there, but we’ve got little flags everywhere,” Lee said. “But we’re grateful for 250 years for our freedom. We are so grateful.”
