East Fork Utility District customers will see a water rate increase beginning July 1, due to rising costs from the supplier in Monterey.
The adjustment follows a recent rate increase implemented by the Monterey Water Department. The additional $3.75 per 1,000 gallons will apply to both the minimum bill and usage rates for all customers.
“We understand the impact this may have on everyone,” East Fork Utility District said, “We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as these increases are outside of our control.”
Residential rates will rise from $12.39 to $16.14 per 1,000 gallons. Commercial customers will see their rates move from $16.28 to $20.03 per 1,000 gallons.
Monterey is the only source of water available to East Fork Utility customers, according to the Utility District,
The district is also adjusting its minimum usage requirements to align with the billing structures used in Monterey. The residential minimum usage will drop from 1,500 gallons to 1,000 gallons.
“These changes will help align billing structures and provide flexibility should future rate changes occur with Monterey City Water,” Officials said.
Monterey previously reduced its residential minimum usage from 2,000 gallons to 1,000 gallons. The press release said commercial minimum usage for both Monterey and East Fork Utility District has been adjusted to zero gallons.
