Former Fentress County Sheriff Michael Reagon agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of tampering with or destroying governmental records.
As part of the plea agreement, Reagon is permanently barred from serving as a law enforcement officer.
Court documents said Reagon voluntarily waived his right to a trial and formal indictment to receive a sentence of 11 months and 29 days of supervised probation. Court documents said the former sheriff is also ordered to perform 80 hours of community service as part of the agreement.
The TBI executed an indictment involving Reagon and former Detective Jerry Mifflin in November 2025. Fentress County Sheriff’s Office officials said both individuals were charged with destruction of and tampering with government records.
Reagon resigned from his post in December.
