Cumberland’s Foster Advances As Mayoral Candidate

Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster wins Tuesday night, capturing 79 percent of the vote.

Foster said he takes the opportunity to serve his community very seriously. He said he was thankful for all those that showed up to support him in the primary race.

“I thank God for that opportunity to serve,” Foster said. “It’s such a blessing in my life. And, you know, so many people help to make that possible. Family, friends that have worked so hard for this. So, it’s just… It’s good to see such a great turnout and such a big victory tonight.”

Following his projected victory, Foster said his leadership qualities made him stand out among other candidates.

“Since my first election three elections ago, I’ve always stood for experienced leadership and a clear vision for our community,” Foster said. “I’m thankful that the voters see that.I mean, it’s amazing to get such a mandate like I had tonight. And the voters just continue to put their trust in me and they believe in that future.”

Foster said the County Election Commission did an “outstanding” job after the setbacks from a major fire.

“Everybody has just pulled together, pooled resources to make sure that they had everything that they need,” Foster said. “With that fire that occurred to move locations, new machines, it’s simply amazing what Jill Davis and her staff have done over there. I can’t say enough about what they did to make this just a flawless election.”

All the election results are still unofficial.
