Clayborn Takes Pickett Republican Register Seat

Republican Aimee Clayborn will move forward as Pickett County’s Register of Deeds.

In the Republican primary Tuesday, Clayborn finished with 532 total votes to defeat Letha McCurdy.

Republicans Tony Beaty, Chris Masiongale and Sheila Moon will move forward in the District One County Commission race in Pickett County. Moon had the most votes with 226, while Chad Parrigin finished in fourth with 123 votes.

District Two County Commission will see three advance among two Republicans, Francis Copeland and James Richardson and two Democrats, Deborah Garrett and Rector Pacey.

Three District Three Republicans, Larry Beaty, Frankie Mullins and Peyton Rector, will advance to face two Independents in August, Joshua Beaty and Brandon Poore.

District Four will see Republicans Andrew Conner, Darrell Garrett and Tyler Garret advance to August.

For Pickett County Trustee, Republican Jennifer Anderson will advance over David Dowdy to face Independent Chris Pryor in August.

Sheriff Dana Dowdy was uncontested in the primary and will also run uncontested in August.

Danny Huddleston will advance uncontested as the Circuit Court Clerk to August.

Democrat Robert Lee will advance uncontested as County Clerk.

Republican Jimmy Cope will advance uncontested as Road Superintendent.
