Aubrey Vickers Helps Lead Lady Jets Flag Football Forward

From the very beginning, Cumberland County flag football athlete Aubrey Vickers said she knew she wanted to be part of something new.

When flag football was first introduced at Cumberland County High School in the fall of 2024, Vickers said she did not hesitate. She was in the room for the Lady Jets’ first meeting about the sport, long before the team ever took the field.

While the program was still just an idea, Vickers had already made her decision. She was all in.

Now in their second season, that early commitment is paying off as Vickers helps shape the identity of the Cumberland County Lady Jets flag football during its formative years.

“I think everybody works together really well,” Vickers said. “Last year was our first year but I think our team really has good chemistry.”

Entering her second season, Vickers has grown from an early supporter into a key contributor on the field.

The senior wide receiver has carved out a role as one of the Lady Jets’ top offensive threats, embracing every opportunity to make an impact, especially near the goal line.

“I love scoring,” Vickers said. “I was super excited and all of my teammates were there cheering me on.”

Vickers has already made her mark, scoring multiple touchdowns across her career and earning All-District honors in her first season. She has led Cumberland County to a winning record through the first few weeks of her second season.

Vickers said the most meaningful part of flag football is not found in the stat sheet but rather the bonds formed along the way.

“We just try to encourage each other,” Vickers said. “We try to say encouraging things.”

With players like Vickers leading the way, Cumberland County is beginning to find its footing. Vickers said the journey is about more than just results, but about building something that lasts.
