Keen’s Relentless Approach Fuels Clay County’s Momentum

For Clay County Bulldogs senior Aiden Keen, baseball has always been about consistency, effort and finding ways to keep momentum on his team’s side.

Keen has grown into a dependable presence for Clay County, contributing both at the plate and in the field. Whether serving as a designated hitter or stepping in at first base, Keen said he has embraced whatever role is asked of him.

“He never once complained,” Head Coach Devrim Brown said. “He just put his head down and got to work.”

That mindset has translated into production. Keen currently ranks among the team leaders, sitting third in both fielding percentage and total hits, while delivering key offensive performances throughout the season, including multiple multi-RBI games that helped power the Bulldogs to big wins.

Keen said the focus for him is not on individual numbers, but about keeping things rolling.

“That was really important to me and our team.” Keen said. “And this year I think we just kept it rolling and as long as we can keep it rolling, we just got to hammer down and do what we’re doing and I believe that that is just how you keep momentum going.”

That mentality has been years in the making. Keen said he first picked up a bat at three years old, learning the game alongside his father, time that helped shape both his work ethic and love for baseball.

“When he’s not working, we’re at the ball field, taking [batting practice,] and fielding ground balls so it’s just the expectation of, repetition, just repeat what you’re working on.” Keen said. “And it’s just a real good feeling to have him there working with me after everything we’ve done together.”

That repetition shows up not just in his consistency, but in his approach to leadership. Keen said he takes pride in helping energize his teammates, especially when the Bulldogs are looking to build momentum.

“We got to go out there and hit, keep the bats going. That’s the main thing in any game.” Keen said. “Having the momentum on your side and I believe you can beat anybody when you have momentum.”

From early mornings at the ball field with his dad to key at-bats under the lights, Keen’s journey has been defined by steady growth and a team-first mindset. And as Clay County continues its season, his ability to do whatever is needed without hesitation remains a key part of the Bulldogs’ success.
