State Senator Ken Yager said his number one legislative goal as the session enters month two is rural healthcare.
Yager said Tennessee is set to receive an estimated $1 billion from the federal government. Yager said legislators have not determined how the first $200 million will be spent.
“It will be spent on things like ambulance departments, regional or local hospitals, for example, health departments, the money will find its way there,” Yager said.
Yager said the money could have huge implications for providing more access to healthcare in the Upper Cumberland.
