Jackson County School Board approved a state literacy grant that will bring roughly $450,000 into the school system to support classroom instruction.
Director of Schools Jason Hardy said the district has received the Comprehensive Literacy State Development grant through the Tennessee Department of Education.
Hardy said the funding is designed to provide additional support for teachers, with a focus on English Language Arts instruction across the district.Hardy said the grant will allow the district to strengthen literacy instruction while providing added resources for educators working directly with students.
“So I’m very excited about that,” Hardy said.
Hardy said the literacy funding is intended to enhance instruction and provide long-term benefits for students throughout Jackson County Schools.
School officials said additional details on how the grant funds will be used will be shared as the program moves forward.
