County Mayor Randy Porter and challenger Wayne Nabors among the candidates to pick up qualifying petitions for the 2026 Election Monday.
The petition period begins 60 days before the election deadline. At least 25 registered voters must sign the petition. Each voter who signs the petition must also supply his or her residential address as it appears on his or her voter registration records.
Porter and Nabors expected to run for Mayor. Eddie Farris and Darrin Stout picked up petitions for Putnam County Sheriff.
15 potential candidates picked up petitions in Overton County. In White County, Monday’s total included 11 candidates.
16 candidates picked up petitions to run for the Putnam County commission seats. The 4th, 7th, and 9th districts already have three candidates each planning to run for those commission seats.
Two candidates picked up petitions to run for Putnam Circuit Court Clerk, while three candidates picked up petitions to run for Putnam County Trustee.
Petitions can be picked up until February 19 at 12pm.
