From the very beginning, Aubrey Vickers made it clear she wanted to be part of something new at Cumberland County.
When flag football was first introduced and discussed during meetings in the fall of 2024, Vickers was already in the room. She attended the Jets’ first meeting about the sport and has been part of the conversation ever since, helping lay the foundation for a program still finding its footing.
“I think everybody works together really well,” Vickers said. “Last year was our first year but I think our team really has good chemistry.”
Now entering her second season with the Jets, Vickers has grown into a key contributor on the field. The senior wide receiver has embraced her role, especially when it comes to making plays in the end zone.
“I love scoring,” Vickers said. “I was super excited and all of my teammates were there cheering me on.”
Vickers has scored multiple touchdowns during her flag football career, but she said individual moments are not what matter most to her. Instead, she points to the relationships built with her teammates and the energy of being on the field together as the most meaningful parts of the game.
“We just try to encourage each other,” Vickers said. “We try to say encouraging things.”
That mindset helped Vickers stand out during her first season, earning her All-District honors. With a year of experience behind her, Vickers said she hopes to continue improving and building on what she learned as the program continues to grow.
