Stone Memorial Promotes Brown to Lead Girls Soccer

Stone Memorial announced assistant coach Caitlin Brown will take over and become the Panthers’ new girls soccer head coach.

The role is not Brown’s first time taking over a girls soccer program. Brown coached at the University of Indiana for eight years before accepting her previous role in Crossville as the girls soccer assistant coach. Brown said she has looked forward to this time of getting back into head coaching.

“It’s been nice to help assist Madison [Bond] the past two years and get to know them better before taking over this title,” Brown said. “So I’m excited to continue what she started with this program.”

Brown moved down to Stone Memorial in 2022. She currently teaches third grade at South Cumberland Elementary School. Brown said during her time at Stone Memorial, she has made friends with the Stone Memorial coaching staff.

“They’re excited to continue to work with me,” Brown said. “We are ready to keep working together and continue to share athletes and make sure they’re not just one sport athletes and we’re sharing athletes throughout these programs.”

Brown takes over two months into the off-season. Her first game as head coach will take place in August. Brown said the move taking place in December gives her time to get acclimated with everything that comes as head coach.

“Having it happen so early, the girls get to know ahead of time what’s happening,” Brown said. “I can start making summer plans and making sure we have the right summer plans to succeed come this fall.”

Brown said she is looking to fill the assistant coach role left by her move to head coach. Brown said she hopes to return 18 players when the new season kicks off in August.
